​​How to detect Asbestos

Asbestos may be hiding in interior and exterior roof panels and wall panels, flooring, linoleum, tiles, glue, tar glue, screed, tablecloths, floor screed, in and around pipes, vent and channels.
In 1980 all use and handling of asbestos prohibited. Materials with asbestos is often placed where it was overheating or higher fire hazard. In addition, there may be asbestos in linoleum tiles, floor screed and glue.
If you observe Asbestos DO NOT touch.
There are companies specialized to work with asbestos.
Asbestos is not dangerous as long as you do not touch it, for example if you drill or make a cut in it it becomes dangerous. This is because it is the dust that is dangerous.

If you suspect Asbestos contact you immediate supervisor.

​​When needed for handling a very small part of Asbestos


Use a dust mask, gloves and a protective suit.
Cover floors and surrounding area with plastic to make sure any asbestos does not spread.
Put the asbestos part straight down in a plastic bag (made of 02 plastic) and label the bag with asbestos (make sure the label is obvious).The bag is to be delivered to waste center as hazardous waste.
Wash the area and dispose cloth used to wash. Throw protective suit, dust mask and gloves. Shower as soon as possible.
