Use of protective equipment

Protective equipment should be used to avoid both injury from accident and longterm injuries

It is important that you always take to considering if the job requires protection when operating or working with a particular equipment.
In many operations you have an obligation to use protective equipment and in other there is a recommendation.
If you do not use protective equipment in operations where you have an obligation to use protection this may result in dismissal (that one gets fired).

Protective footwear: When the toes and feet may be injured one should always use protective footwear.
Protects feet and toes – Protects heavy and sharp objects from hurting feet and toes.

​​Low safety shoe with steel tip and stepping plate : Used on construction sites to prevent stepping on a nails to cause injury or when mowing to protect your toes.

​​High safety shoes with steel toe-caps : Used when using f. Ex. chainsaw or Brushcutter / heavy grass trimmer

​​Rubber boots with steel toe-caps: Used when using f. Ex. mowing if it rains.

​​Safety goggles: Should always be used if there is anything that can splash and hit eye. Both if it is a type of liquid that squirts or f.ex. rubble, metal splashes or etc. Should be goggles that protect good around each side of the eyes, to prevent things from getting in from the side. Examples of use:
Painting over your head, line trimmer

​​Helmet: Should always be used if there is a danger of getting something in your head F.ex. if one is standing guard for someone working in the heights or working with felling of trees, etc

​​Dust mask: Used if what you are working with can be dangerous to breathe in, both wet and dry.
We at SBM should not be in areas that require special masks
If there is a lot of dust in the air where you are working or f.ex. sprayed with herbicide then you need to use a dust mask.

​​Hearing Protection: Use if you work near loud sounds, even if it is only for short periods.
F.ex.When using all possible equipment that creates high sound, Grinder, shredder, etc.
Or if you drums or beat on anything that makes loud sound.

​​Gloves: To be used if one can get rift, physical injury or if you work with fabric and chemicals that can cause chemical burns / irritate the skin or which can be dangerous if it is mixed with other substances.
F.ex. if one picks trash, use gloves for reasons of hygiene and protection.
When working with demolition so use gloves so you do not get wound or tears.
